About Duncan
Duncan: The Gentle Knight of the Backyard Kingdom Once upon a Tuesday, somewhere between a heartbreak and a miracle, an almost 1 year old, 40-pound Catahoula mix named Duncan wandered into the right yard - the kind of yard where fate parks itself and says, "Yep. This is the spot." He came seeking safety, maybe a snack, maybe a sign from the universe that not every story ends on the side of the road. What he found was hope, kibble, and his first glimpse of home. Now neutered, house-trained, and emotionally available, Duncan is ready for his next chapter: the forever one. Duncan is the canine embodiment of a Nicholas Sparks novel written by someone who also appreciates slapstick comedy. Sensitive, soulful, loyal to his chosen humans (especially the ladies - he's a bit of a mama's boy, honestly), and a professional-level fetch enthusiast. He's wonderful with the four dogs in his foster home, though he'll politely decline any invitations from unneutered males. Cats? Let's not. Like many heroes in training, Duncan is still learning the finer points of manners, courage, and the fact that men aren't all scary - some even have treats. What he needs is patience, gentleness, and a little faith in the goodness of the world. In return, you'll get a devoted guardian with a golden heart, a goofy smile, and the kind of love that feels like destiny finally getting it right. Duncan - proof that sometimes the best things in life just wander into your yard and never leave your heart. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
