About Katana

Katana is a 3-year-old female Presa Canario who has made remarkable progress since arriving at the rescue. Once emaciated and deeply shaken from abuse, she’s now a happy, healthy 108-pound dog who just wants a stable, caring home. Katana loves people and thrives on affection, but she also has an independent side. Her energy level lands in the moderate range—she’s playful, enjoys long walks, and loves a good snooze beside her family. She’s housebroken, crate trained, and working toward mastering her leash manners and basic obedience. Treats are always a great motivator for her! Katana gets along well with children over five, but they should have experience with large dog breeds. She may be able to live with a large, mellow male dog (over 60 pounds) after careful introductions, but small dogs aren’t a fit for her. Cat compatibility is unknown. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Katana is undergoing heartworm treatment; her meds will go home with her. She’ll need a family ready to provide stability and structure to help her trust and thrive. Nationwide adoption is available, though those able to meet in person will be prioritized.
