About Blaze
Meet Blaze, a goofy, affectionate yellow Lab mix around 8 years old who’s looking for a family in Roy, UT. Blaze is a big boy with a big heart, happiest when he’s close to his people—wherever you go, expect Blaze right at your side. His playful side comes out often, whether he’s flopping on his back in pure delight or joining in on the neighborhood bark chorus with his raspy voice. A bit hefty, Blaze would benefit from a family that can help him slim down, but he’s always up for leisurely walks (even if he needs to take breaks—he’ll claim he’s admiring the scenery but really just wants to catch his breath). This guy is sharp and will figure out how to open gates if not locked, so secure fencing is a must. Blaze gets along with other dogs of all sizes, but he does not get along with cats or small animals—he still has that chase instinct. He hasn’t lived with children in foster care, so his compatibility there is unknown. Blaze has Cushing’s disease and will need daily medication for life; the rescue covers the cost of his meds forever, so no worries there. He’s recently neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and house trained. Baths aren’t his favorite, but he’ll tolerate them for treats. On the other hand, he adores being brushed and demands equal attention when it’s grooming time. No love for fireworks, but he settles quickly when you’re near. Foster-to-adopt placements are available in Idaho or Utah, with an adoption fee fully refunded after 30 days. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Blaze
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Blaze, as a mixed-breed yellow Lab, is happiest in a home where he can be close to his people, preferably with a secure yard and lots of attention. Labs thrive in environments that offer plenty of companionship and routine.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large dogs like Blaze appreciate access to a fenced yard, but with his Cushing’s and love for leisurely strolls, regular walks and indoor company matter most. He isn’t high energy, so moderate outdoor time suffices.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Labs are usually known for being gentle with kids, but Blaze hasn’t been in a home with children, so it’s unclear how he’ll do. Caution and monitoring would be best for any introductions.
