About Mabel

Mabel is an affectionate 8-year-old black lab mix, full of love and unflagging energy. Even as a senior, Mabel isn’t slowing down—she relishes playtime in the yard, adventures, and learning new tricks. She gets along with everyone: kids, dogs, and even cats. Potty trained and crate trained, the chaos of puppyhood is behind her, but she brings all the enthusiasm of a much younger dog. She knows her basic obedience and is currently working with a trainer to manage leash pulling and improve her manners around other dogs outdoors. She can show some fence guarding, but she’s making progress. Mabel is looking for a family ready to keep her mind and body active, and she thrives with strong leadership to continue her training. She did have a toe amputated due to cancer, so her adopter should commit to regular vet visits and keep an eye on her paws, since there’s potential for future health needs. She’s fostered in Salt Lake and ready to find her home. Meeting Mabel makes it clear—this is a dog loaded with heart and spirit. Fostering to adopt is encouraged if you're not sure about a long-term commitment. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
