About Niko

Niko is a medium-sized, loving dog who is friendly with just about everyone he meets. After being left at a campground, he bounced back with an easygoing, mellow attitude and a big heart for people and other dogs. Kids who are dog-savvy will make a great match for him. According to his foster mom, Niko is sweet, energetic, and loves human attention—his favorite place is right beside you. He plays well with other dogs, adores cuddles, and doesn’t seem to hold a grudge about his past. He’s five years old and weighs about 50 lbs, with a short golden and white coat that’s easy to care for. Niko is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and parasite screened. His leash skills are still a work in progress due to some pulling, but he’s motivated to please. He does not get along with cats and has a strong prey drive around small animals in the backyard, so a cat-free home is best. Niko is house trained and ready for a foster-to-adopt home in the Chicago area. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
