About Heckle
Heckle, also known as Sir Handsome Heckle, is a 4-year-old pit bull/lab mix who has truly come into his own while in foster care. He starts off a bit shy around new people, but warms up with timeāand once he trusts you, his goofy personality comes through. Heckle thrives with another dog in the house (he tends to get along best with other males), and he often looks to his canine companion for cues about the world and household routines. Heās pretty chill with cats, just a little curiousāand doesnāt chase. New people and dogs get him excited; if he barks, itās just nerves, not aggression, and he settles down once heās comfortable. Heās otherwise quiet around the house, including when crated, where he feels safe. He has solid kennel manners and enjoys both his time outdoors and quietly shadowing his people inside. Heckle is house trained, hasnāt chewed anything that wasnāt his, and knows basic commands like sit, leave it, off, and wait. Heās still sharpening lay down and fetch/drop, but with consistent boundaries, heāll keep improving. Bath time is a highlight for himāhe loves the attention and scentsāand heās easygoing with grooming as long as you donāt rush. Heckle isnāt especially food-motivated, but rewards help a little. Heās comfortable with structure and routine. Heās never lived with children and would do best in a home with older kids or adults. Heckle is a Pisces, so donāt be surprised if you catch him daydreaming or sticking closeāloyalty is in his stars. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
