About Monica
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com Monica was a stray in NE Iowa back in June 2011 when we took her in. She was 1-1/2 years old at the time. She was adopted in July 2012. Monica's adoptive mom died recently, and her dad got a new girlfriend and cannot keep Monica because of her. Monica was already spayed, is up to date on shots, and tested negative for FeLV / FIV back in 2011. Monica is about 15-1/2 years old now as of January 2025. Monica has no bathroom issues and always uses the litter box. No health issues at all. She does have “Big Eyes”…her pupils are naturally always dilated but her vision is fine. She was most likely born this way as we tested her for everything and she does not have high blood pressure nor a detached retina. She is a cuddle bug. A little overweight. Friendly. Please open your heart and your home to Monica and give her a true forever home. 3/9/25 UPDATE: She seems to be doing mostly well, especially considering her age. Her hearing seems a bit diminished, and she gets around a bit slower and sleeps a lot. She enjoys all the lap time she gets during the day when I'm working. Monica's adoption fee is $95.00. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters. Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
