About Indigo Indeed A

Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started. Meet Indigo, an alert and loyal companion ready to steal your heart with his signature pointy ears and affectionate personality. Indigo is soaking up the comfort of his New Jersey foster home and continues to shine with his ongoing training—his progress has made everyone proud! He is searching for an adopter who is eager to continue his training journey and help him build confidence through positive reinforcement and patient introductions. Structured routines and clear expectations are key to his happiness, as he thrives in environments where he knows what to expect. Indigo's unique breed mix—32% Australian Cattle Dog, 26% German Shepherd, and 19% Chihuahua—means he is packed with energy, cleverness, and a natural herding instinct. He truly blossoms when given a “job” to do, whether it’s playing fetch, patrolling the yard, or engaging in training games. He forms strong bonds with his people and is very affectionate and gentle once trust is built. While Indigo is friendly when meeting new people out and about, he is more cautious with unfamiliar faces at home and needs slow, predictable introductions, particularly to maintain a calm and enjoyable environment. Indigo enjoys daily walks, playtime with dog friends, and spends time in his crate when his foster parent is working or when alone, happily keeping himself occupied with toys and food puzzles. He’s house trained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. As for his social side, Indigo does well with other friendly, calm dogs and loves to play, but he's happiest in an adult-only home or a household with older teens who will respect his need for structure. While he did okay meeting a cat indoors, he is much too interested in outdoor cats and small animals, so a cat-free home suits him best. Indigo takes pride in his responsibilities—patrolling, monitoring, and greeting with a toy in his mouth. He follows basic commands such as “sit,” “down,” “wait,” and more. The ideal adopter for Indigo is patient, consistent, and willing to offer the structure he needs to continue growing into his best self. Could this sweet, playful, and loyal pup be your fantastic new best friend? They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
