AvailableAbout Pancake
Pancake is a resilient 4-year-old German Shepherd who’s come a long way since arriving at the rescue. She battled severe sickness and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) that had gone untreated, but under her foster family’s care, she has blossomed into a healthy, petite girl. Managing her EPI takes extra effort—she’ll need daily enzymes with her meals and a special diet, but she’s absolutely worth it. Pancake weighs in around 55 pounds, which the vet says is her healthy weight. She’s active and thrives with playtimes, fetch, squeaky toys, and even short runs. Her leash manners are improving, though she’s still strong and pulls with enthusiasm. Pancake gets along with other dogs on her own terms—she’ll ignore or tolerate them, but prefers to hang out with people. She would do best with an energetic canine playmate but isn’t suited for homes with young kids or seniors. Her personality is affectionate; she’ll follow you around and gives you her attention. She isn’t much of a barker (except for a good guard dog bark when needed), making her a fit for condos or homes alike. New situations and thunderstorms can make her anxious, but her confidence is improving steadily. Pancake is spayed, house-trained, crate-trained, and current on all vaccines. Her right ear doesn’t quite stand up, giving her a bit of extra charm. She thrives on interaction and consistency, ready to bring her bold spirit to a committed home. Pancake is currently fostered in Centreville, VA, and attends adoption events in the area. Give her the chance she’s been waiting for—she’s more than ready for her forever family.
