About Pancake

They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Pancake is a 4-year-old sweetheart who has been in foster care for some time and has made incredible progress from when she first arrived ill and underweight. She has a manageable condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI); her health is stable now, thanks to a dedicated foster family and a special enzyme regimen. While always staying petite, Pancake is vibrant, energetic, and loves an active daily routine—she thrives with plenty of playtime and would adore a securely fenced yard and a fun-loving canine playmate. However, she isn't the right fit for homes with small children or seniors due to her enthusiasm and strength. Currently at a healthy weight near 55 pounds, Pancake enjoys going for walks, running in parks, and playing fetch or tug with toys—she's great at entertaining herself and enjoys both solo and interactive play. She tends to ignore or tolerate other dogs and prefers human company when it comes to downtime. This affectionate girl is both house- and crate-trained, showing excellent manners at the vet and around people. While a little anxious in new situations, she’s getting more confident with each outing and adoption event. Pancake's foster has worked hard on her leash manners, though she still pulls and can be distracted, especially with new sights and scents. Her distinctive right ear, which doesn’t stand up straight, only adds to her charm! Managing Pancake’s EPI is straightforward but does require a bit more time and resources: her kibble needs enzymes and some prep time. Luckily, she’s food-motivated, which helps with her continued weight gain and enthusiasm for training. Pancake is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm and parasite negative, and ready to find her loving forever family. Approved adopters may reach out to her foster for more information. Pancake is living in Arlington, VA, and is planning to attend local adoption events. She has been waiting patiently for a home—could it be yours? Make their next chapter their best one yet.
