Rome has been adjusting to plenty of change lately—new faces, new places—he’s feeling ready for a stable, comfortable home again. As a German Shepherd, Rome comes with that loyal, intelligent, protective streak, but also needs someone who understands the quirks of his breed. He’s worked hard with his foster on training and looks for structure and predictability; he thrives on it. Rome arrived with some anxiety that’s improved with routine and patience. He prefers to be an only dog or to live with confident, easygoing canine siblings. He does display some prey drive around smaller dogs. Rome does well with children and has lived with them, but as a typical shepherd, he may try to herd young kids if they get too rowdy. Older children suit him better. He is house and crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. As a shepherd, he can be quite vocal, and ongoing training will be important for his success.
