About Luke
Luke is a big, bold Australian Cattle Dog with a true working-dog attitudeāloving and loyal to his people, cautious around newcomers. He might look imposing at first, but under all that muscle thereās a gentle, squishy marshmallow who enjoys belly rubs, butt scratches, and chase games in the yard. Outside, heās quick to invite you into play, though, as a typical cattle dog, he insists on choosing the rules of the game. Lukeās manners indoors set him apart. He automatically sits and offers his paw patiently at meals and knows basic commands. Heās about 5 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and regularly receives preventative care. Though he gets jazzed for walks and car rides, his leash skills still need some polishing. Heās attended a couple of obedience classes and keeps making progress. He loves to be near his peopleāoften found curled up next to you on the couch or plopped on your feet as you work. Expect him to follow you everywhere. Luke can be uncertain with new people but usually warms up with treats and patience. He gets along well with the resident female dog in his foster home and can tolerate a male dog, but his feelings toward cats are unknown. Luke needs a home with a fenced yard, preferably with adults and someone who has experience with herding breeds. He tiles toward being protective and is quick to announce strangers or delivery vans, but nothing makes him happier than being your loyal sidekick. Luke is currently in Newport, WA.
