About Rugby

Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Rugby, an affectionate, active, and playful 4-year-old hound/terrier mix with a beautiful short red and brown coat. Weighing around 50 pounds, Rugby is a snuggler who loves playing fetch—especially with his squeaky orange frisbee disc—and enjoys fun walks and time with other dogs in his foster home. He's a smart boy who’s completed a 6-week basic obedience course, mastering his sit and short-term stay, and relishes the bonding time that training creates with his person (and, of course, the tasty treats that come with it!). While Rugby bonds deeply with his people, he's quite timid in new situations and needs patience and understanding as he builds his confidence. Rugby thrives in a supportive home that will help him adjust to new experiences at his own pace. Once comfortable, he's the definition of a loyal, loving, and playful companion. Rugby is friendly with other dogs, especially those his size or smaller, and gets along well with his foster dog friends—he's even formed a close bond with fellow adoptable Cedar. Rugby would do well as either an only dog or living with another confident, playful canine companion. He prefers the company of older children and, while he enjoys chasing cats, he does so out of playfulness, not aggression. As the longest resident in his foster care, Rugby is more than ready to find a family to call his own. He’s waiting for a committed family who will give him the time and care he deserves, ensuring he blossoms and truly thrives. Give this loving and loyal boy a chance to be your new best friend. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
