About Garfield Fiv+

Garfield Fiv+ is a big orange tabby with a story to tell. Once a tough neighborhood survivor, years outdoors left him cautious, but he’s let his guard down in foster care with the help of kind hands and other gentle cats. Garfield will need a patient adopter willing to go slow and let trust build over time. He isn’t keen on being hovered over or picked up when standing, but if you sit down, he just might curl up in your lap. During his transition, a small room free of too many hiding places will help him settle in. Garfield’s heart (and trust) is best won with food. He’s a vocal foodie—he’ll sing for supper and purr through meals, happy to be pet while he eats. At just over 10 lbs, he’s at his best with measured meals. Play, window watching, and relaxing in soft chairs seem to be his favorite pastimes. He’s enjoyed the company of mellow female cats in foster and should do well with another friendly, confident feline. He could adjust to a calm dog given time and respect, but young children might be too much for him. Garfield is FIV+, but that shouldn’t deter you—he can live a long, happy life with routine care. He’s not for someone seeking instant affection, but for those with patience, he’ll be devoted and loving. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
