About Spike

Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started. Meet Spike! Spike has endured a challenging life before being rescued, and because of his past, he is very fearful with new people. If you can look past his initial growling and snarling, you'll see that all Spike really wants is to be loved. His aggressive behavior is born out of fear and can be overcome with patience and the right person by his side. Spike does not do well with men or boys of any age, but he does warm up to most women over time. He is truly a one-person dog, so if you're a single woman without close family or friends and are seeking a loyal companion, Spike might be your perfect match! Here’s what life with Spike looks like: In the first month, Spike will likely hide and be wary, growling when you approach—even with food or treats. Around the second month, he’ll begin to approach you with curiosity, touching your leg with his nose before retreating. Once you both reach a level of trust, he’ll start to snuggle under the covers, gradually allowing more affection at his pace. After the transition period, Spike will let you pick him up and will greet you with a wagging tail and open heart. If you commit to this 90-day journey of patience and understanding, you’ll be rewarded with Spike’s unconditional love. A bonus is that Spike gets along with other dogs, and once he’s settled, he’s an easygoing companion who enjoys naps and lap snuggles. If you’re ready for Spike’s unique adventure, he is waiting for someone special to give him the chance he deserves. Your new best friend is just one click away.
