About Shamus
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet dear sweet, lovable Shamus! Shamus found his way to the rescue in June 2023 and, at 3-4 years old and around 70 pounds, he has truly blossomed since arriving. When he first came, Shamus had little experience with a leash, but thanks to dedicated training, he now enjoys walks with his favorite staff. Shamus is best suited as the only animal in the household—he isn’t fond of cats, dogs, or other small animals. While he does well with children, his large size and tendency to think of himself as a lap dog could lead to accidental knockovers, so families with adults or older children may be ideal. Shamus is crate trained and is house trained when kept on a regular schedule. He loves tough toys, especially bones and stuffed toys, and never shows food aggression. There’s nothing he enjoys more than removing the stuffing from a plush toy, tenderly carrying around its shell. If you are familiar with handling large dogs and are open to continuing training classes, Shamus would love to meet you! Plus, a generous supporter has put $100 towards his adoption fee, hoping to help him find his forever home. A fun fact: With a birthday on June 24, Shamus is a Cancer, which means he’s likely to be loyal and affectionate. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
