About Howard
Howard is a striking German Shepherd mix in Springfield, MO with a big presence and an even bigger love for adventure. At almost 6 years old and around 70 pounds, he’s all about playing ball, splashing in water, and hopping in the car for outings. He’s house and crate trained, knows how to walk well on a leash, and thrives with structure and activity. Howard gets along well with playful dogs his size, though his rough play style means his dog friends need to be up for a good romp. Cats haven't been tested with him yet, but that can be arranged. He has a classic shepherd bark and makes an excellent alert dog—yet inside, he’s easygoing and loves human company, especially when treats or toys are involved. Howard is great with children but, due to his size and exuberance, a home with sturdier, older kids is best. A privacy-fenced yard is a must, as he loves to stretch his legs and burn off energy safely. Howard would be happiest with an adopter who’s active and wants to include him in life’s adventures.
