About Martin
Martin is a year-old, shorthair gray and white tuxedo cat with a tall, lean build and a wildly curious streak. Heās constantly scoping out corners, climbing, and dashing through rooms at top speedāthe kind of cat who makes his own fun and sometimes gets into trouble. If a doorās open, Martin wants to know whatās on the other side. Heāll need a home thatās not on a busy street and a fenced yard (even better if thereās a catio), since heās a known escape artist. Exercise and challenging play are musts for him. Heāll chase a laser pointer until your hand gets tired and demands daily fun, otherwise he gets bored fast. Martin enjoys being heldāfor a whileāthen wriggles free, off to his next adventure. He naps with other cats, sometimes sleeping tucked next to you or enjoying a quiet spot alone. While heāll eventually warm up to some other cats, Martinās temperament is pretty particular; he might tolerate or become friends with laid-back felines but prefers a slow meet-and-greet. Heās coexisted well with a cat-friendly golden retriever and enjoys a good game of chase, though calm introductions are key for new dogs. Martin is easily startled by small children and is best suited for an adults-only home. Like all cats adopted through this rescue, heās neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and parasite-free. What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Domestic Short Hair cats like Martin do well in a variety of homes, but they thrive when given room to play and explore. Martin especially needs a secure environment with opportunities for indoor enrichment.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Martin, as a Domestic Short Hair, doesn't require outdoor space, but he does benefit from a catio or safe, enclosed yard due to his adventurous nature. Enrichment indoors is also essential for his activity level.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
While many Domestic Short Hair cats adapt to families, Martin prefers an adults-only home. Small children can make him nervous, so an adult or mature household suits him best.
