About Spottie

Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started. Spottie’s story began on the busy streets of NYC, where she was found alone and brought to the city shelter after recently having a litter. Sadly, it's all too common for mother dogs like her to be abandoned after raising pups. At the shelter, Spottie watched as other dogs found their homes while she, a gentle senior, was repeatedly overlooked. Fortunately, her luck turned when a compassionate person decided to save her just in time. Spottie is a large, older girl with a heart full of love and a history that calls for patience and dedication. Thought to have pitbull ancestry, she’s New York’s special “boroughbred,” with a classic short black and white coat. Though she isn’t spayed due to her age, she’s up to date on her vaccinations and perfectly house trained. Spottie enjoys a calm lifestyle; she’s neither high-energy nor interested in strenuous activity, preferring leisurely walks and lounging beside her favorite person. She does best as the only dog in a home, as her past life as a breeding dog left her wary of other dogs. However, she is tolerant with cats—sometimes even playful! Spottie can initially be unsure around children but has formed a strong bond with her caregiver’s child. For visitors and new friends, she’s friendly and loves gentle affection. She’s crate trained, using her crate as a comforting sanctuary, and is leash trained, walking politely at your side. Spottie would thrive with someone who is home often and can help her feel secure, as she is prone to separation anxiety and values being close to her human companion. She’s affectionate, gentle, and playful in her own way—delighting in belly rubs, rolling over for attention, and eagerly awaiting treats. If you’re seeking a loyal, mellow friend to share your days with, Spottie could be the devoted companion you’ve been waiting for. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
