About Pandora
When Pandora came to the shelter as a stray, she was terrified. Scared of people, afraid to be leashed, didn't know how to walk on a leash. She quickly learned to walk on a leash, but still avoided people and leashing, so a foster family took her in to help her adjust to life with humans. Dora, as she is affectionately called, has made a lot of progress. She was housebroken almost from the start, quickly learned the household routine and gets along with the other family dogs. She accepts leashing in her special leashing spot. She loves walks, getting quite excited at the prospect, but is happy to couch potato the rest of the day in her favorite spot on the sofa or a in chair, with occasional Outs and gentle chewing on a favorite toy for variety. She still avoids people standing up, but will approach for treats if they're sitting down, joins them on the sofa for TV, and sleeps on the bed with them. She's still not entirely sure about being pet, but seems to be moving slowly towards liking, maybe even seeking affection on the bed or sofa. Dora is generally quiet, but will bark to alert, and can be quite vocal in husky fashion when she has a complaint or something to say-- sometimes comically so. Dora is young and shows the potential to be playful, though so far she has been too timid to actually play with another dog. To be fair, however, her potential playmates either don't know how to play or are too old to bother anymore. She is very sensitive, and will need a patient, gentle home to help her feel safe. A friendly dog companion could be good for her. Dora rides well in the car and is ready to go home with her permanent family. Ask about Pandora-- she could be a good fit for you!
