About Scout
Scout is a neutered male hound/Weimaraner mix, tipping the scales between 40 and 45 lbs. His DNA results confirm his unique blend, and at roughly six years old, he wears his graying muzzle and facial scars as quiet reminders of a rough past. Scout has a history of trauma and takes time to trust, but once he bonds with you, his loyalty is unmatched. He’s deeply affectionate with his person, always by your side, and will gently steal your slipper or trinket just to keep it close—no chewing, just comfort. Scout does not coexist comfortably with men, children, or cats, and must have a female-only, quiet home. He gets along with other dogs and actually finds comfort and confidence in their company, but he'd also thrive solo. While low-energy and a champion couch potato, he enjoys short bursts of play and good walks—though you’ll need to be able to manage his strength on leash. When guests visit, Scout needs to be crated in a separate room for everyone’s comfort, as new people make him nervous and he uses aggression out of fear. Scout is currently fostered in Middletown, CT and can do a week-long foster-to-adopt trial with an approved adopter. He needs someone patient, loving, and fiercely committed to setting him up for success, flaws and all. If you think Scout could fit into your life, reach out to start the conversation.
