About Lucy

Click apply to start the adoption process. Lucy, also known as Ruby or Ruby Roo, has traveled a bumpy road in her early life, moving between several homes before finding her way to a caring foster family. Despite her rocky start, Ruby is an exceptionally bright, athletic, and playful companion who quickly wins hearts with her affectionate nature and sweet temperament. She delights in curling up beside you on the couch, snuggling close, or simply snoozing contentedly in her bed. One of her charming quirks is her gentle “kiss communication”—she’ll softly boop or lick your hand, arm, or whatever’s handy to let you know it’s time to go outside or just to share a loving moment. Ruby is a fast learner who responds to commands like "box" for her crate, and directional cues such as "go upstairs," as well as sit, come, shake, paw, and “home” on walks. She’s both house-trained and crate-trained, making her easy to welcome into your home. Her eagerness to please and food motivation make training new tricks both fun and rewarding. Ruby walks wonderfully on a leash, enjoys car rides (with a loving chin rest on your shoulder), and adores outdoor adventures, especially romping in a yard or splashing in shallow water. Games like tug of war, fetch, and treat-catching are among her favorites. For socialization, Ruby tends to get along well with most other dogs when introduced off-leash and has lived harmoniously with children ages six and up, including those with special needs. She is strong and exuberant, so she is best suited for families with older children or adults who can keep up with her energetic play. Ruby might be a little shy with new people, particularly men, but warms up quickly with kindness and treats. For anyone in search of a loyal sidekick, active playmate, and ultimate cuddle bug, Ruby is ready to fill your days with joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Born August 1, Lucy is a Leo, which means she’s likely to be a warm-hearted and spirited companion! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
