About Laverne
Laverne is a small, wire-coated schnauzer mix with a striking black and silver coat. She’s a gentle, easygoing dog who’s great with kids—she bonds quickly and loves attention from people of all ages. Laverne and her sister Shirley were found dirty, matted, and unspayed in a rural area by a good Samaritan, and quickly showed just how loving and adaptable they are. These two have a tight bond, so an adopter who can take both is ideal, though each does well solo as long as there are no other dogs in the home. Laverne does not get along with dogs outside her duo and isn’t suitable for homes with cats, but she thrives on human companionship. She is already housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained, making transitions straightforward. Despite the rough start, she’s fully vetted but undergoing treatment for heartworm, so a calm environment is especially important right now. Laverne’s looking for a home—or a foster—who will keep her world steady while she completes treatment. She and her sister are as close to “easy dogs” as you’ll find, but they need a safe space without other animals to recover. These two would love a family with kids, or a household ready to shower them with love and structure. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
