About Pippin
Pippin is a senior Labrador Retriever/Husky mix looking for a warm and steady place to land. He’s nine years old, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Pippin weighs about 60 lbs and enjoys nothing more than exploring a fenced yard—though extended bouts outdoors aren’t ideal since he once made a name for himself as an escape artist. His foster hasn’t seen these antics, likely because he’s not left alone for hours, but he’ll need secure fencing and someone who appreciates just how much trouble he’ll go to for a snack. This dog will find food in places you didn’t know existed, so storing meals and treats well out of reach is a must. Pippin’s crate trained and house trained, diving into his crate with enthusiasm, especially if there’s a treat involved. He’s great with cats (ignores them mostly) as long as their food is tucked away from his reach. Around other dogs, he gets along fine—unless food is in the mix. For everyone’s sanity, he’s best as the only dog in the house. Pippin’s strong on leash and will likely barrel through if you have small kids, so he’s not a fit for families with young children. Applicants need to be within 2 hours of Florence, KY. What this older guy needs most is a comfortable, reliable place to live out his golden years. Think you could be his person? Questions about Pippin
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Pippin, as a Labrador Retriever/Husky mix, usually thrives in a home with a secure fenced yard and plenty of human companionship. His mix tends to do best with room to roam and regular interaction.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
A large, securely fenced yard is ideal for Pippin to explore safely. His background as both a Labrador and Husky mix means he appreciates time outside, but shouldn't be left for extended periods unattended.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Pippin’s breed mix generally does well with kids, but due to his strength and tendency to barrel through, he’s best in homes without small children to prevent accidental knocks and tears.
