About Poppy

Poppy is a small Chihuahua with a big personality and plenty of quirks. He came from a difficult situation where he wasn't handled much, so he still gets scared and will run away if he feels threatened—especially if he thinks he's going into his crate. He can be crated, but he's much happier when left out and prefers a household where people are home most of the time or there's at least one other small or medium-sized dog to keep him company. Poppy is happiest with adults and is best in a calm home without young children—a household where he’s the only 'kid' is ideal. He’s what you might call a 'parrot dog,' always wanting to be close, in your lap or even perched on your shoulder. He sleeps in bed with his foster parents and isn't one for lots of activity or car rides. He’ll need adopters who will let him on the furniture and appreciate a fiercely loyal sidekick. If you’re willing to be patient and take life at his pace, Poppy could turn out to be your little shadow. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
