Dodger is a young dog who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. Found as a stray and never reclaimed, Dodger arrived very scared and unsure of what to expect. He is sensitive to touch and will communicate when he has had enough of an interaction, so respecting his boundaries is especially important. Once Dodger feels comfortable, though, we get to see a completely different side of him, a playful, silly young dog who is still discovering his confidence. At just a year and a half, we don't know what his past looked like, but it's clear that he didn't have all the socialization and experiences he needed early on. Dodger's ideal home will be quiet and adult-only, with someone who is patient, willing to put in the work, and able to meet him where he is. His adoption process and meets will look a little different than a typical shelter meet, and any potential adopter should be prepared for continued management, structure, and confidence-building. The good news? Dodger has so much potential. He needs someone willing to understand him, respect his communication, and show him that he doesn't always have to be on guard.
