About Copper

Copper is a five-year-old purebred Border Collie with classic blue merle good looks. He lost his first home, but since coming into rescue, he’s taken everything in stride and brings a steady dose of happiness wherever he lands. Copper thrives around people of all ages and especially loves children, but he can’t live with cats or small caged pets—he’s simply too focused on them. He’s crate trained, keeps his kennel clean, and is steadily working on his indoor manners and potty training after a lifetime mostly spent outdoors. Copper runs instead of walks, always curious and in good spirits, and needs gentle, calm guidance to keep his energy channeled the right way. He’s eager to please, takes treats with exceptional gentleness, and listens well, especially when called. Social at heart, Copper enjoys dog parks—he reads other dogs’ signals brilliantly and wrestles with his housemate with infectious enthusiasm. He walks decently on leash and is learning to curb his jumping and take affection like a gentleman. Copper would shine in a home with a consistent routine, a fenced yard to run in, and another friendly dog. No cats or chickens, though. He's currently being fostered near Kansas City and waiting to meet the right family for his next chapter. Your new best friend is just one click away.
