About Mia
Mia came to the rescue as an owner surrender and has been in foster care since summer 2025. Her foster mom has put in significant effort helping Mia build her confidence and learn to manage her impulses. At first, Mia was eager to explore but grew anxious outside of the house, even in peaceful neighborhoods. Now, she’s transformed—soft, affectionate, and remarkably cuddly—happy to nap or spend time with her people. Mia entertains herself with plush toys and enjoys quiet time. Because of her early anxiety, she’s comfortable in a Ruffland kennel when unsupervised and is both kennel and house trained. Mia walks nicely on a leash and settles pretty well at bedtime, though she may try her luck with new handlers. She adores people and has grown comfortable around children who are calm and understand boundaries, though quick toddler movements do still startle her. Her ideal home includes older kids who respect dog signals. Mia currently lives with other dogs and does well with respectful canine friends when introduced thoughtfully and after time to decompress. She’s communicative, offering clear warnings when uncomfortable and prefers handlers who listen to her signals. Mia is independent, often choosing solo sunbathing over group play, and does not require hours of intense activity—a couple of short walks and some playtime each day suit her just fine. Mia can exhibit leash reactivity if surprised by barking or lunging dogs, but she recovers quickly and continues on her walk without lingering stress. She needs an experienced large-dog owner who can offer her structured support and continued guidance. Mia is a selective but expressive girl who has a loyal heart for the right home.
