About Monte

Make their next chapter their best one yet. Monte is a delightful, energetic, and loving neutered pit bull/mastiff mix with a gorgeous fawn-colored, medium-length coat. Weighing in at about 89 pounds and around 3 years old, Monte is full of life and ready to find his forever family. With a recent TPLO surgery behind him, he's cleared for adoption and feeling vibrant. Although he has a partially torn cruciate on his left hind leg, veterinarians advise surgery is unnecessary unless discomfort arises in the future. Monte adores sprinting around the yard for zoomies and unwinding with his favorite chew bones. He enjoys the company of other large dogs that can match his rough-and-tumble play style—future canine siblings should be at least 40 pounds. Monte knows several basic commands, is crate-trained, and will signal when it's time for a bathroom break. He loves a good French fry treat and relishes cuddle time, certain he fits perfectly on any lap despite his big frame! On walks, Monte starts out excited but calms down, though he can still pull on the leash. He’s making wonderful progress with his manners, and continued positive reinforcement will help him thrive. For this reason, a home without children under 10 is best. Monte is best in a cat-free home, as he’s a bit too interested in feline friends for everyone's comfort. Friendly and outgoing with new people outside, he's a star at the vet and warms up quickly at home with a proper introduction. Monte is eager to find a loving family to share all his affection, fun energy, and loyal companionship. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.

Questions about Monte

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Pit Bull Terrier/Mastiff mixes thrive best in homes with ample space and a secure yard, as they benefit from both exercise and a structured environment. They often do well in single-family homes where they can be part of the family activities. Consistency and clear boundaries help them succeed in family settings.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

A pit bull/mastiff mix benefits from a securely fenced yard where they can run and play, but daily walks and regular exercise are crucial regardless of space. While apartment living is possible with commitment to exercise, more room is generally preferred for these strong, energetic dogs.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Pit bull/mastiff mixes are often affectionate and loyal, and can do very well with older, respectful children when properly socialized. Due to their size and strength, supervision is always recommended around younger kids.
