Monte is a big-hearted, lively pit bull/mastiff mix with a friendly, animated spirit. At roughly 3 years old and weighing in around 89 pounds, he brings a mix of energy and affection wherever he goes. Monte's back on his feet after successful TPLO surgery; his vet has him cleared and feeling strong, though a minor cruciate issue in his other leg is being managed without intervention. Monteās favorite things include racing around the yard for zoomies, diving into chew bones, and sneaking his favorite treatāFrench fries. Heās crate-trained, house trained, and knows his basic commands. While he gets along well with other big dogs (over 40 pounds), he plays with a rough-and-tumble style, so any future dog friend needs to keep up. Monte pulls a bit on the leash, especially at first, but settles in; his excitement is part of his charm. Heās learned not to jump up on people, but he still needs a home committed to reinforcing his manners, especially since a house without children under 10 is best. Monte is too focused on cats for a peaceful coexistence and should find a cat-free home. Out in public, Monte is a social butterflyācalm, gentle, always a favorite at the vet. At home, heās more cautious with new faces, but he truly blossoms once introduced by someone he trusts. He offers big cuddles and sometimes thinks heās a lap dog, despite his size.
