We came across this Injured shepherd mix in need of rescue and funding over the summer of 2024 and with the help of the community, we were able to rescue him and his friend Martin a little fawn pittie. When we rescued Luther, he was non weight bearing on this front right leg, and he was terrified of leashes and people. His location was NOT ideal as he was right on the bend of a very back country road that people flew around all day long. He had NO fear of cars, so for a while we fed him in the woods to gain his trust and keep him off the streets. Luthers intake was traumatic for him as he clearly had not had any positive experiences with a leash. Like most shepherds, he was just a sensitive gentle giant and has learned that rescue life is not so bad at all! Luther is shy upon initial meeting, but he is a major lover boy when he trusts you. He gives hugs, enjoys plush toys, calm play, and is housebroken and crate trained now. Luther has been around cats, dogs, and horses and has been very friendly! His leg was an old break from we assume being struck by a car and only gives him trouble now and then, but will not require medical intervention going forward.
