Rags' estimated birth year is 2015. Rags is a Terrier mix who weighs approx 72#. He was was found walking down a median on a busy road in Detroit when he was rescued. Unfortunately he was found to be heartworm positive when he was rescued and he has completed heartworm treatment. He is now heartworm negative. Rags will require monthly heartworm preventative for the rest of his life. Rags is such a character and a cool guy! He LOVES getting attention from people, at one of the adoption events, he got attention from about 5 people at the same time (during one of his walks), and the week after he remembered that same spot, we went there and he didn't want to leave, because he didn't want to miss out on his fan club (he did get the attention he was looking for not long after). He is very loving, sweet, silly, smart, cuddly, and will lean on people so he could get extra attention and pets. He’s gentle, doesn’t pull on walks, and makes a great co-pilot in the car! He has an overbite which was probably congenital that causes his tongue to stick out. Dog social. Unknown how he is with cats. Children 15 years old and older. His forever home is REQUIRED to have a totally enclosed physically fenced yard. Rags is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, on heart worm preventative as well as house and crate-trained. Rags needs a quieter home without a lot of foot traffic. He would be an excellent companion dog than a family dog. Rags is excited to be loved and spoiled for the rest of his life! All dogs we rescue stay with us until they find their forever homes. We do not do same day adoptions. A home visit is required to ensure our dog is going to a safe environment and our dog gets along with your dog(s) and/or cat(s). We require all our dogs over the age of 1 year attend 1 obedience class (6 week session) outside the home. You must live within 1 hour of Birmingham, MI to adopt one of our dogs. No out of state or outside the U.S. adoptions or fosters. Rags' adoption fee is $300.
