About Rags Needs A Forever

Click apply to start the adoption process. Rags, estimated to be born in 2015, is a lovable Terrier and Rottweiler mix who’s ready for his forever home! This big, black and brown, medium-coated boy weighs approximately 72 pounds and has a truly one-of-a-kind personality. Rescued after being spotted bravely walking down a busy road, Rags underwent and successfully completed heartworm treatment—he is now heartworm negative but will need monthly preventative for life. This gentle giant is a people-pleaser through and through. Rags thrives on attention, recalling special spots where he’s received plenty of pets and praise, and he’ll gladly lean into anyone who offers extra love. He’s sweet, silly, smart, and loves to cuddle. You’ll find he walks beautifully on a leash and is a wonderful co-pilot for car rides. His signature overbite gives his tongue a quirky way of sticking out, adding even more charm to his already endearing nature. Rags is social with other dogs but is looking for a quieter home without much foot traffic, ideally one with children aged 15 and up. For his safety, a fully enclosed physical fence is a must. He’s neutered, house and crate-trained, and up to date on his vaccinations. Rags would make an excellent companion for someone who wants to cherish and spoil him. Potential adopters must live within one hour of Birmingham, MI, and a home visit is required to ensure it’s a safe fit for everyone, including your current pets. All adopting families must commit to a six-week obedience class if their new friend is over a year old, like Rags. Same-day adoptions are not done, and out-of-state adoptions are not available. Application details can be found at the rescue website or at adoption events. Rags can’t wait to be part of a loving home where he will finally be the star he deserves to be.
