Millie
AvailableMillie is a small adult female Shih Tzu/mixed breed with a yellow-tan coat living in Bakersfield, CA. At about 6 years and 8 months old, she has been spayed and her vaccinations are current. Although she deals with some nerve damage from previous matting, she's mobile and active. Millie gets along well with other dogs and is looking for a home ready to embrace her unique needs.
About Millie
Millie arrived in 2022 with what appeared to be a spinal injury, though her real issue was severe matting that created nerve damage and left her dragging her hind legs, unable to control elimination. Proper care and grooming turned things around: she's much happier and, while she'll probably always dribble and need some help a couple times a day with elimination, Millie is fully mobile and keeps a busy pace—she hops around using her back legs and can't really wag her tail but doesn't let it slow her down. She's now living it up with the sanctuary Chihuahuas in a lush, grassy play area, making the most of every day. Millie has a sweet nature, is playful, and enjoys sneaking in kisses. While not tested with children, she has shown no issues with tolerance toward anyone and loves everyone she meets. She's social, adaptive, and ready to share her joy with a patient adopter willing to accommodate her needs. As a fun fact, Millie is a Virgo—thoughtful and adaptable at heart. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Shih Tzu/mixed breeds like Millie don’t need much outdoor space—a fenced yard or regular walks suffice. She'd be content with limited but secure outdoor time, especially given her mobility needs.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Millie's breed is usually fine with children, particularly older, gentle kids who understand her boundaries. She loves everyone she meets, but supervision with small children is best due to her special needs.
