This could be the start of something paw-some. Meet King! King is a courageous, 8-year-old mixed-breed shepherd who has survived tremendous hardship and kept his loving nature intact. After years of mistreatment and neglect, including being left alone in a house and surviving a car accident, King has emerged as a gentle soul who cherishes time with people and pets alike. He delights in head scratches, gentle praise, and companionship, and he’s happiest when close to those he trusts. King is house-trained and comfortable sleeping in a kennel. While he’s still working on not pulling during walks—especially when squirrels appear—he is eager to please and responds well to gentle patience and ongoing training. He enjoys playing, loves baths, and is content with grooming but prefers his paws be left alone. Although King can be a bit enthusiastic when greeting people and is still convinced he’s a lap dog, he’s incredibly affectionate and brings happiness wherever he goes. King gets along very well with other dogs and cats and has lived harmoniously with children. However, his tendency to jump for attention means a watchful eye is helpful, especially around little ones. Car rides make him anxious, so a crate is encouraged for travel. He’ll thrive in a home with a fenced yard or with supervised outdoor play, where he can enjoy safe adventures.
