About Rio
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Rio! This charming 8-year-old Husky mix came into care as a stray, once underweight and heartworm positive, but now he’s heartworm-free and thriving. Rio has shown incredible resilience—after his treatments, he’s gained healthy weight and is enjoying life much more. To keep his sensitive stomach happy, he sticks to a special i/d diet, which lets him feel his very best. Rio is a mellow, gentle soul who gets along well with other calm dogs but finds cats a bit too tempting to chase, so a feline-free home would suit him perfectly. He loves walks and hikes, making him the ideal companion for anyone who enjoys the outdoors without needing a super energetic dog by their side. He’s happiest in a household with older children, as younger kids can make him nervous. Looking for a loyal, easygoing friend who deserves a loving second chance? Rio is ready to share his gentle heart with someone ready to appreciate everything he has to offer. Stop by to meet this sweet boy and see why everyone at the Humane Society of Whitley County adores him! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
