About Barkley

Click apply to start the adoption process. Barkley arrived at the shelter a bit underweight, but after some time in a loving foster home, he's now a healthy 61 pounds with a sleek and handsome appearance. He’s incredibly food motivated, due to his past as a stray, and is working on not guarding his food—a behavior that’s already improving with time. Barkley loves both dogs and humans, uses the dog door like a pro, and became potty trained within just two days in foster care. He enjoys playtime with his foster siblings and shares toys easily, having also met small dogs without any problems. Barkley’s zest for meeting new people means he sometimes jumps up in excitement, so a home with older kids would be ideal to avoid any accidental bumps. He is strong and continues to benefit from ongoing training support. Barkley experiences some separation anxiety, but is learning to settle in and trust that his people will return. You'll find he's a loving, playful companion ready for a family that can provide encouragement and guidance as he continues to thrive. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
