Chessie
AvailableAbout Chessie
Chessie came to rescue when her previous shelter closed and quickly asserted herself as the queen bee in her foster home. She's got a big personality: friendly, outgoing, and totally confident in new situations. Expect a lot of head bumps and purrs if you win her over—Chessie loves affection and will even let you hold her, as long as her back legs feel supported. She chases wand toys like it's her profession and puts her biscuit-making skills to work when she's relaxed. Chessie is clear about her boundaries, especially with other cats. She prefers to be the only feline boss in the house and isn't afraid to hiss or growl if another cat crosses the line. After being adopted for a year, she was sadly returned for unprovoked biting. Her former family described her as sweet and loving but noted she sometimes nips without warning. She'd do best with experienced cat people who understand feline body language, not first-time adopters. Families with older, cat-savvy children are a better fit than homes with young kids. Chessie has a history of enjoying time with kids who know how to behave around cats, such as those in the Reading to Cats program. Nobody's sure why Chessie bit in her last home, and she may not repeat the behavior in a new environment. What’s clear is that she’s a wonderful cat who needs people who really "get" cats and will help her settle in for good. She makes a strong addition to the right household and deserves a stable, loving family of her own. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
