About Hansel D
Hansel D came from a tough past, arriving at the rescue underweight and crawling with fleas, but his gentle, sweet nature shone through right away. Once warmed up, Hansel is a fan of cuddling and likes to be carried. After medical care for fleas, worms, and an ear infection, he's bounced back with home-cooked meals and thoughtful rehab in his foster home, where he gets daily exercise and attention. He's shown curiosity, intelligence, and a love of play—fetch is a favorite, and he's even taken to swimming with other dogs. Hansel gets along well with other dogs and cats when properly introduced, and enjoys plenty of social opportunities in his foster home. He’s high energy and craves routine—long walks, runs, and active play help him stay balanced. Hansel is very motivated to play with other dogs, responds well to training, and has a strong recall, but his youthful drive means he still needs guidance, especially around chasing runners, cars, or bikes. He hasn’t lived with children and will chase them, so a kid-free, active home is best. Hansel needs an experienced handler ready to do one-on-one training, ideally with interest in dog sports or working dog activities. Ready for the next chapter, he's looking for someone who’s active, present, and up for enjoying all his GSD potential. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
