About Copper
Copper is a three-year-old Doberman Pinscher with natural ears, a docked tail, and a big dose of energy. Picked up as a stray in Georgia, he made his way to Washington looking for a place to call home. After nearly a year in foster care, he’s eager for stability and a real family. Copper warms up quickly, especially with a treat in hand, and shows plenty of affection once he trusts you. He chases balls enthusiastically—though returning them is still a work in progress. With dogs, Copper does best when introductions are slow and managed, and he tends to match the confidence of his handler on leash. Out on walks, he likes to take the lead without pulling. He needs a single-family home with a securely fenced yard, and a family committed to regular exercise and continued training. Cats and small animals aren’t a fit for Copper. Large-breed dog experience is highly recommended. He is neutered and current on vaccinations. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
