Odie is a male Dachshund about 2 years old and weighs approximately 22 pounds. He is a medium-sized, sweet, and mellow dog, currently located at Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles. Odie is house trained and has been neutered, making him a ready companion for the right home. He does best in a home with a yard and no cats, and would be great with other dogs and older, considerate children.

About Odie

What are you waiting for? Apply today! Odie arrived at the rescue after being hit by a car and bravely underwent an extensive surgery to repair a fractured right rear femur. Happily, he's on the road to recovery with just four more weeks of crate rest to go, and his leg is now as good as new. At around 2 years old and 22 pounds, Odie is an incredibly sweet and mellow boy who spreads happiness wherever he goes. He adores people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and would thrive in a home with older, considerate children. However, he is not a match for homes with cats. Odie's long, strong legs make him twice the height of a typical Dachshund, and he definitely needs a yard to stretch and play. Apartments and condos won't suit his active spirit. If you're looking for a loving companion who’s ready for his forever home, Odie could be the perfect match. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.

Questions about Odie

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Dachshunds are adaptable but typically do best in homes with a yard where they can explore and play safely. They can also live comfortably in houses or apartments if given enough exercise.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Dachshunds benefit from access to a secure, fenced yard for play, but can adapt to smaller spaces with regular walks. Daily outdoor time is important to keep them physically and mentally stimulated.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Dachshunds are generally good with older, respectful children. Their playful nature can be a great match, but supervision is recommended with younger kids due to their long backs and potential for injury.
