About Taz

Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Does this guy look familiar? This is Cody’s brother, Taz. In a unique turn of events, Taz has returned to the rescue after his previous adopter realized they couldn't dedicate enough time to him. Taz is a super sweet and loving 1.5-year-old Cowboy Corgi (Corgi/Cattle Dog mix) weighing about 26 pounds. He absolutely thrives with companionship and would be happiest in a home with another friendly dog who won’t mind a bit of bossiness, or he could be your one-and-only furry friend. He needs a family where people aren’t away for long hours, as Taz is used to being around his humans and wants that close bond. House trained but may mark when settling into a new place, especially since he’s been recently neutered—which should improve with time. Taz is very curious about cats and due to his herding instincts, a cat-free home is recommended. He has not been tested with children, so older kids (12+) are best. Taz is new to leash walking but responds well to treats and is eager to learn. He sleeps cozily in his dog bed at night, can be hand-shy in unfamiliar situations, and enjoys riding along on the ATV with his foster dad. Taz loves to run and needs plenty of safe outdoor space, so a secure fenced yard or a farm setting is required—he’s not suited for apartment living. As is typical for his breed, he can be vocal when excited, so prospective owners should be comfortable with some Heeler barking. Taz is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. He is available for adoption in Colorado only. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Taz

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Corgi/Cattle Dog mixes, or Cowboy Corgis, are typically best suited for active homes with plenty of space to roam. They thrive in environments where they have a job to do or activities to keep them stimulated, such as a home with a large yard, or even a rural or farm setting.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

This breed generally needs lots of outdoor space and enjoys a secure yard for exercise and play. They are energetic and benefit from daily opportunities to run, explore, and play, making them less suited for apartment living.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Cowboy Corgis can be suitable for homes with older children, especially those familiar with herding breeds. Because they have herding instincts, supervision is recommended around small children, as they may attempt to herd them.
