About Hoss Cartwright
Start your journey together! Apply now. Hoss Cartwright is a very sweet senior dachshund who is looking for a loving home to spend his golden years. Heartworm prevention is given to him on the 27th of every month to keep him healthy. Hoss really enjoys his food and prefers not to have other dogs near him while eating, but otherwise gets along well with other dogs in the home. He delights in cozy sweaters, a big comfy bed, and loves rolling in the grass and romping around the yard. Recently, Hoss found himself at Central Texas Dachshund Rescue after his previous family was expecting a new baby and couldn’t devote the time he deserved. At 14 years old, he has received all his vetting and is ready to find either a foster or forever home where he can be cherished and cared for. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Hoss Cartwright
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
The dachshund is typically best suited for homes where it can enjoy both indoor comfort and supervised outdoor play. They thrive in both houses and apartments as long as they receive regular exercise.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Dachshunds benefit from a small yard or access to parks, but do not require large outdoor spaces. Regular walks and chances to sniff and explore will keep them happy and healthy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Dachshunds are generally good with respectful children, especially if socialized from a young age. However, due to their long backs, young children should be taught to handle them gently.
