About Leia

Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Leia, named after Princess Leia, is a striking shepherd mix looking for her forever home! At around 10 months old, she’s a sweet, young, and independent shepherd who currently weighs about 80 pounds and is still filling out. Leia’s soft, medium-length coat makes her even more huggable. Incredibly playful, she enjoys interacting with dogs of all sizes and would love a good-sized yard to romp in. She does well with children ages 10 and up, but hasn't had experience with younger kids. While she hasn't lived with cats, she enjoys chasing birds and squirrels in the yard. Leia would thrive with another young dog as a companion or as part of a moderately active family—she’s always ready for a nap after her playful bursts! Leia isn't a fan of baths or water, but she doesn’t mind a little rain. She enjoys being close to her humans without being overly clingy or snuggly, preferring to rest independently nearby. Currently, she’s just starting leash training, so her new family will need to continue working on that skill. She’s potty trained to an open sliding door in her foster home. Leia is best suited for experienced big breed owners who understand the importance of continued training and socialization for shepherds like her. Her adopter should be patient and dedicated to guiding her as she grows into a well-mannered companion. Please remember that all young dogs require ongoing potty training and homes must be prepared for the joyful chaos of puppyhood. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
