About Maile Nj
Make their next chapter their best one yet. Meet Maile, a medium-sized female Australian Cattle Dog mix with a bright red and white coat, currently thriving in foster care in New Jersey. Maile’s Hawaiian name can be pronounced “Miley” by locals! This smart, affectionate dog had a tough start in life, spending over two years in the shelter system before finally landing in her foster home where she’s on a healthy diet, losing weight, and shedding her old life for a brighter future. She’s house and crate trained and has mastered a wide range of commands like sit, stay, paw, spin, and place. Maile is eager to work and thrives when given tasks and enrichment, but she balances her energy with cozy sessions lounging around the house. Maile does best as the only pet in a calm, adults-only home, ideally with women, and is looking for someone who has previous experience with the breed. She is not suited for homes with other animals or children. She’s a toy enthusiast, politely non-destructive, and finds comfort in routine—heading straight to her crate at bedtime. Although sometimes nervous with storms and sensitive to touch, Maile responds wonderfully to slow introductions and ongoing positive training, including learning the basket muzzle for safety. She is gentle in the home and truly adores her handlers. New adopters should be ready to continue helping her build confidence, meet guests thoughtfully (preferably outdoors with treats), and celebrate her every quirky win. With continued patience and positive reinforcement, Maile is sure to be a rewarding companion. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
