Cash came from a very loving home complete with another dog and kids. Sadly, Cash's human dad tragically died last year. His human mom was struggling. It was tough for her to manage 2 jobs, kids, and their dogs on her own. With a true act of love, she knew that Cash would be the easiest to find a forever home, as her other dog was a 12-year-old senior and would be harder to place. Cash has been with his family since 4 weeks old. We are grateful to be entrusted with his care. Cash is the sweetest German Shepherd. His 1 year birthday was on May 8, 2025. He has had his world turned upside down. We can confirm that he is great in car. He loves the company of all dogs big or small. He is food-motivated, and a quick learner. Full disclosure. Cash was recently in a foster- to-adopt home in a condo setting. It took him a few days to acclimate and he did have a few pee accidents until he and his foster family figured out a schedule. Sadly he was not given enough time to acclimate and was put in a bad situation where he felt cornered by an over- enthusiastic neighbor with dementia. Cash nipped her gloved hand when she would not stop reaching for him. It was an avoidable situation and we are so disappointed that he was put in harm's way. Though the nip was not serious and was not reported, we did our due diligence and filed the bite report with the county and had him quarantined for 10 days. We have learned that Cash will need more time and training in a future home. Although he was raised in a home with children and has done well with children, we know that he is cautious and slow to accept new people. Children have friends, playdates, and sitters. We have decided that we will not place him in a home with children. We believe that he would do best in a home with not a lot of people coming and going. He needs a home with German Shepherd experience. Please Read Carefully! Adoption Process Caring Animal Rescue Inc believes that every animal deserves a good home, but we also believe that not every animal is right for every home. We take the time to learn about an animal's behavior and match it with the lifestyle of potential adopters. All applicants must submit an online adoption application. You must provide verifiable vet references, verifiable address match, and character references. If you list that you are the owner of a home, we will verify property records. If you list that you are a tenant, we will verify that pets are allowed on your lease agreement with your tenant. By applying to adopt, you are agreeing that we have permission to contact your vet, landlord, and character references. If you do not agree with our screening process, please do not apply. Applicants must agree to our screening processes before a meet and greet, and at-home visit is scheduled. All existing animals within the home must be up to date with vaccinations and spayed/ neutered. All kittens under 10 months old will be adopted in pairs unless there is an existing cat in the home. Completing our application does not guarantee that you will be matched with one of our animals. We are under no obligation to disclose our reason(s) for our decision. Any application with questions not answered fully will not be considered complete and will not be processed. 2. Please note that we are volunteers. We do not have any paid staff. All applications are processed outside of our normal non-rescue jobs. An application does not guarantee approval of adoption. Our decision is based on what is the best fit for our dogs and cats. We will call your character references, landlord if applicable, as well as your vet and any other necessary calls needed to approve or deny an application. 3. Phone or email interview. We will notify you if your application is approved. 4. Meet and greet - we will only schedule meet and greets for those who have passed steps 1-3. We ask that you come to our facility for the initial meet and greet. If you have children, roommates, or other dogs, they must also be present. 5. Home visit/ Pet meet and greet - we want to make sure that all humans and pets are a good match! Due to the requirement of home visits, we are currently adopting only 25 miles or less of our location. The distance is at our discretion, as we must factor in gas and round-trip travel time. We are not currently adopting out-of-state. We have chosen a small radius near our facility to provide support to our adopted animals and their new families. Caring Animal Rescue Inc. does not have any paid staff. All monies, adoption fees, donations, etc., go directly to paying for the shelter and care of the animals in our rescue. If all goes well at the home visit, the pet can stay, and we will move on to step 6. 6. Adoption Finalization - sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee - we accept cash, checks, Venmo, or PayPal. Please note that there is an additional processing fee for PayPal and Venmo. What does your adoption fee cover? Dogs: Age-appropriate vaccinations such as Rabies ( must be 3-4 months of age determined by our vet), DA2PP, and Bordetella. Spay/ Neuter Heartworm Snap Test for dogs 6 months and older. Microchip Deworming Flea/Tick, HW meds, and antibiotics (if needed) while in our care. Cats Age-appropriate vaccinations such as Rabies ( must be 3-4 months of age, determined by our vet) and FVRCP vaccinations. Spay/ Neuter Microchip Deworming Flea/Tick and antibiotics ( if needed) while in our care. Adoption Fees Dogs 12 weeks -1 year old $450+ 1 year - 7 years old $350+ 8 and up $250+ Pit Bull Terriers $250-$350 if over the age of 1 years old.
