Precious is a senior female German Shorthaired Pointer, medium-sized and currently living in Arkansas. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She adores children and gets along especially well with other dogs, but needs a home without cats. Her gentle, shy nature and preference for a calm environment make her a wonderful companion for a patient adopter ready to help her continue to flourish after her recent medical recovery.

About Precious

This could be the start of something paw-some. Precious is a sweet, 10-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who has truly blossomed since her arrival last June to rescue in northwest Arkansas. Previously, she overcame a severe snake bite and a lengthy medical recovery that included multiple surgeries and rounds of antibiotics. Precious is naturally shy due to limited early socialization, but she gently shines with children—she’s known for her calm, safe demeanor around even the littlest ones. She’s always polite with treats and never jumps. Dogs, especially fellow GSPs, are her happiest companions, as she LOVES their company. However, she’s best in a cat-free home, as she is a bit too enthusiastic with feline friends and is startled by loud noises like fireworks. Precious is familiar with using a dog door and is content to nap on her own bed at night (though she loves to be invited onto the sofa). She rides calmly in cars and walks well on a leash, though she can be nervous in unfamiliar surroundings. Baths aren’t her favorite activity, and she hasn’t been tested in a crate. With a mischievous streak, she’s known to sneak off with toys or even your favorite shoes! Her ideal home will have a physical fence plus the patience—and humor—to let her build trust and express her personality. Think you are the one? Submit an application!
