About Bricks
Bricks is a nine-year-old pit bull/dachshund mix built like his name—compact, broad, and all muscle with a low-slung, heavy frame and short legs. His reddish-brown coat and tiny stature make him memorable, but it's his friendly, bouncy spirit that stands out. Bricks is happiest sniffing his way through a neighborhood stroll or curling up under your blanket for a cozy nap. He’s house trained but might need a quick refresher since he’s spent some time in kennels. Walking on-leash suits him perfectly, and he makes an easygoing walking buddy. Bricks carries the legal label of "dangerous dog" after a serious incident years ago, which has complicated his chances at finding a home. He’s lived safely in sanctuary, but with the sanctuary shuttered, he’s searching for a special adopter. Because of his history, Bricks is safest as the only pet and cannot live with cats. He can be okay with certain dogs but has shown dominance or aggression with others, so a pet-free home is best. Virginia law means special adoption conditions apply in-state, but he’s most likely to thrive out of state. Despite the challenges, Bricks is a kind, funny, and affectionate little guy eager for a family who can see past his label. Give him a chance and find out for yourself why he’s worth it. A reduced adoption fee of $100 applies for Bricks and other harder-to-place dogs. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
