About Marty
Introducing Marty, a splendid one-year-old dachshund-Chihuahua mix, brimming with personality and charm! Marty is simply wonderful when it comes to socialising with other dogs. His playful, confident, and respectful nature makes him an ideal companion for any canine family. With his outgoing demeanor, he thrives in a pack environment and truly embodies the spirit of a dog's dog. Marty is full of energy and delights in outdoor adventures, often revelling in the freedom that nature provides. He particularly enjoys exploring trails and going on hikes, making him a perfect companion for active humans who love the great outdoors. While Marty is an affectionate and fun-loving pup, he does require a bit of understanding when it comes to human interaction. Initially, he may find it challenging to fully engage with people, but with patience and time, he can learn to trust and bond. His future human needs to take the initiative to interact with him, gently holding and loving him physically each day to help him build confidence and make progress in forming connections. Marty's energy level is impressive—he can tackle a 3-mile walk with ease! However, he is not hyperactive; rather, he has a balanced energy that allows him to enjoy both playtime and relaxation. To keep him safe, he must have a securely fenced yard, specifically a 6-foot privacy fence; he has shown an ability to climb over anything shorter than that. When he's with his canine pack, he tends to be more grounded and doesn't venture beyond safe bounds. For safety during outings, Marty wears a harness and a martingale collar, both equipped with a sturdy leash. When he is still establishing bonds, a slip lead is recommended to ensure control and comfort, especially in new environments. Marty gets along splendidly with other dogs and is respectful around cats, but he will engage in play if the cats are up for it! While he may not be suitable around flock birds, he is friendly towards farm animals such as horses, goats, and rabbits. While Marty loves all dogs, he's drawn to larger-breed dogs, especially females. He's just a big baby that needs to be smothered with love and affection. Stay tuned for more updates and details about this charming little guy! Marty is ready to find his forever home, where he can share his love for adventure and companionship. .Visit our adoption website AdoptAHRescue.org •Friendly with- Children - Cats - Rabbits - Dogs - Small-breed dogs - Senior pets. **All Adoptions Include:** - Spay/Neuter procedure - Rabies vaccination (offered with 1 or 3-year options) - Comprehensive core vaccinations, including Leptospirosis, Coronavirus & Lyme (available for 1 or 3 years) - Negative heartworm test (if of age) - Monthly prevention for heartworm, fleas, and ticks - Negative Lyme disease test - Deworming and negative faecal test - Completion of all necessary testing within the last 6-12 months - All age-appropriate medical needs addressed (blood work, dental check-ups, testing, and medications) - Lifetime microchip registration with free unlimited updates - A recommendation to feed a high-quality good protein diet •Veterinary records included •Brand-new Collar, Leash, Harness. **Adoption Processing:** - The review of adoption applications, meet and greet, and citation can take up to three weeks.
