AvailableAbout Apple
Apple’s story started when she was picked up with her mom and siblings and taken to a shelter. Their owner eventually reclaimed the rest of the family, but Apple was left behind because she had a badly broken leg. The shelter contacted us, and Apple came into our rescue so we could get her the care she needed. At the end of August, Apple had orthopedic surgery to repair her leg. She now has a plate and screws in place and has spent most of her puppyhood on strict activity restriction to make sure everything healed properly. Now she is getting closer to the end of recovery, and she is finally getting the chance to just be a puppy. Apple is about 3 1/2 months old and currently weighs around 17 pounds. We think she is going to be a pretty big girl. Our best guess is some type of Bernese Mountain Dog/Poodle mix, although we cannot say for sure. Apple is sweet, friendly and very social. She loves people, loves other dogs and is always happy to be part of whatever is going on. Because she has spent so much time on activity restriction, she has a lot of built-up puppy energy. She is extremely active and would do best with a family that enjoys being active and is ready to help her learn all the things she has missed while recovering. She is not housebroken yet and is just beginning to learn basic puppy manners. She likes to chew things she should not, gets curious about everything and has a lot of catching up to do, but she is also very young and eager to be part of the action. Apple does have a plate and screws in her leg. Everything is stable, and we do not expect it to cause problems, but adopters should understand that with orthopedic hardware there is always a small possibility that a screw or other piece could become uncomfortable later and need to be removed. Apple is scheduled to be spayed on October 20th. She is current on vaccines, microchipped, has been on monthly preventatives and has been treated for intestinal parasites and worms. Apple is looking for a family that understands she is still a very young puppy who has had an unusual start. With some patience, training and plenty of appropriate activity once she is fully cleared, she is going to make a wonderful companion. Her adoption fee is $350. Applicants must live within one hour driving distance of Cleveland, Ohio, and a complete and approved application is required before an in-home meet and greet. Apply at onek9.net/apply
