About Sawyer

Sawyer is pure heart. He was the one with the injured rear leg, and yes, you can still see a little lameness when he walks — but you know what? It does not slow him down, and it certainly does not dim his happiness. He keeps up, he keeps going, he keeps wagging, and he is so, so happy to be with his people. Sawyer is gentle, shy at first, treat motivated, and a total cuddle bug — just like his brothers. He wants to be with someone who loves him, he has done great around children ages 2 and 5, and he is learning that quick movements and loud sounds are not things to run from forever. He will bark for a few minutes when left, because he does not like being completely alone — which, after being dumped, is not hard to understand at all. He is neutered and did great after surgery. Like his brothers, he is kennel trained — no accidents when kenneled — and used to getting a biscuit when he is put up. He is learning sit and lay, and he is still learning the leash, where he tends to hit the ground at first. He does not need pity. He needs a home that will keep an eye on that leg, give him a soft place to land, and let him be the joyful puppy he already is. Picture it: Sawyer, coming toward you across the yard, a little uneven, completely unbothered, tail going a mile a minute — because you are the person he was walking toward. **Good to know:** Great Pyrenees mix puppy, one of the Tom / Sawyer / Tex trio. Neutered, kennel trained with no accidents when kenneled, accustomed to a biscuit when put up, learning sit and lay, still learning the leash. Old rear-leg injury with lameness that does not seem to cause much pain. Gentle and shy at first, treat motivated, cuddle bug, good around young children. Barks briefly when left, dislikes being completely alone, startles at quick movements and loud sounds, runs rather than showing aggression. Adoption fee $250. ---
