The Schnoodle is a Schnauzer and Poodle cross developed in the US as a companion since around the 1980s. It isn't recognized by the AKC and has no breed standard, so size runs from about 10-pound minis to dogs well over 60 pounds, depending on which Schnauzer and Poodle varieties are in the mix. Most have a wavy to curly, low-shedding coat, often with the Schnauzer's beard and eyebrows.
In Houston, the coat is the main care item. Plan on professional grooming every month or two plus regular brushing, and consider a shorter clip through the long, humid warm season so the coat dries after rain and doesn't mat. Schnoodles tend to be bright, playful and attached to their people, with a watchful streak that can mean barking at footsteps in an apartment hallway. Reward-based training started early works best.
