Anatolian Shepherds are livestock guardians from the central plateau of Turkey, bred to live with flocks and drive off predators on their own judgment. Adults are big and rangy, commonly 80 to 150 pounds, with a short to medium coat that is usually fawn with a dark mask, though other colors occur.
In Omaha, those traits show up in everyday ways. Most are calm and loyal at home, but they're wary of strangers, watchful after dark and inclined to roam if a fence allows. That means careful socialization, calm and consistent training, and a plan for visitors, delivery drivers and neighbors' dogs. They mature slowly, often not settling until two or three, and every dog's personality varies.
